Ultrasound 3 LEVEL (Doppler)

Is an examination performed in all pregnancies.

The purpose of this examination is:

  1. Detecting a possible problem in fetal development.
  2. Confirmation of the good status of the fetus.
  3. Examining the anatomy of the third trimester of the child.
  4. Determining the risk of preeclampsia and residual fetal development.

It is performed from the 28th week until delivery, but usually at the 32nd week of pregnancy.

Ultrasound 3 level (Doppler) includes a range of fetal measurements (biometrics) that allow us to calculate its weight.

The blood flow (with Doppler color) is examined in the umbilical veins to assess the placenta and cerebral vessels in order to assess the oxygenation of the child's brain.

We measure the amount of amniotic fluid and estimate the fetal movements that provide us with information on the well-being of the fetus. In addition, the position and morphology of the placenta is controlled.

The embryo is a developing organism and various pathological conditions may have an adverse effect on the development of its vital organs. For this reason, during the developmental ultrasound, the anatomy of the third trimester of the fetus is also controlled. In particular, the scalp and brain, ocular niches, palate, lips and face profile, spine, neck, chest and lungs, heart, abdominal wall, abdominal content, liver, pancreas, spleen, fetal kidney. Examination of the 3rd trimester anatomy is performed by taking specific ultrasound sections, which help to better detect possible abnormalities at this advanced age of pregnancy.

In this ultrasound check we measure the blood flow in the uterine arteries to see if there is a risk of preeclampsia and residual fetal development. In the case of problematic pregnancy, we also check the uterine cervix to determine the risk of premature labor. In cases where the embryo is in the right position, it is visualized by 3D (3D and 4D) ultrasound. Doppler Wave Ultrasound can be combined with the cardiograph (biophysical profile). This combination provides us with additional information on the condition of the fetus and the course of pregnancy.

Exam time about 30 minutes.
